So um...my halloween costume scares me.

Pictures to come when they are taken.

Zombie Prom Queen, by the way.

This makes me giggle.

There's some great Hallowe'en songs over on my new blog, if ya'll are curious.

Daelan went trick or treating last night as a police officer (don't as me why, but they never do it on halloween *shrug* and they set specific hours for it)

I have some really cute pictures I'd love to post for everyone. Is there a way to do that on this blog?

*not exactly blog savvy*

Study: 3 Cups of Coffee a Day May Shrink Women's Breasts

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Drinking just three cups of coffee a day may make women's breasts shrink, a study finds.

Nearly 300 women were surveyed by researchers from Sweden's Lund University about their bust measurements and how many cups of coffee they drank in an average day.

They found that three cups a day was enough to start making breasts shrink, with the effects increasing for every additional cup of coffee consumed.

They said there was a clear link between drinking coffee and smaller breasts, as about half of women possessed a gene shown to link breast size to coffee intake. The news wasn't all bad, however. Researchers also found that regular caffeine intake may reduce the risk of breast cancer.

"Drinking coffee can have a major effect on breast size," said Helena Jernstroem, a lecturer in experimental oncology at Lund University. "Coffee-drinking women do not have to worry their breasts will shrink to nothing overnight. They will get smaller, but the breasts aren't just going to disappear."

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to pass this along to everyone. Team Daelan (Daelan, myself Josh and Sharyl) will be participating in crop walk this year and we have been challenged by 2nd Pres. Church. Daelan is really excited about this!
Here's his page:

I know times are hard right now but this really is a good cause and Daelan is really trying hard to reach his goal. Hey, atleast it's not wrapping paper and magazine subsriptions right? :)

I love everyone and miss you all so much!

I got fired from Albertsons today. Too many Panic Attacks. I'm trying to apply for disability, but they said that can take months, so I am applying at Wall Mart tomorrow. Not sure what I am going to do about bills and such. I am so tired of this.

That's all I have to say about that.

Sheesh! First I get gas all over my hands putting $10 in the van, then I 'bout get run over walking across the parking lot at the grocery store by some lady paying more attention to her cell phone than where she's driving. She missed me by inches.

Can Polling Location Influence How Voters Vote?

A study by Stanford GSB indicates that YES, a polling location can - and does - influence how voters cast their ballots.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Here it is a month from the election and we have yet to receive our voter information packet in the mail. I found it online today. I was also looking for where our polling place is this time around. Guess where it is! Go on! Guess! That's right. We get to cast our votes in this federal election ... IN A CHURCH! Not one the schools in the neighborhood. Not at the fire station just up the road. Not even at the library or the city building or the rec center or the grocery store. Nope. A church.

So much for the seperation of Church and State, huh?

My eddy is 21 today

Here we go again,
Micron reported today that they will lay off another 15% in the next few weeks. mostly in other departments other than my own but still shaky. so please wish me luck.

I get to be involved with a very cool project the judges are spearheading. We're calling it the Veterans Court Project. The idea is to identify the veterans coming through the municipal court (which is all ordinance violations, traffic tickets, misdemeanor stuff - not serious crime) and 1) provide pro bono representation through a pool of willing attorneys, but also 2) direct them to services they may be hesitant to seek out on their own. The thing about military people is they're so likely to hunker down and not get some help. The courts are beginning to see vets coming in for say, a parking ticket, then the next time, they're speeding, then the next time they're DUI, then the next time they're assault. We're hoping if we can get them the transition services that they - for whatever reason - didn't take advantage of when they got home that we don't see them again after the traffic violation. The way it will work is that for those who are having transition issues, ptsd etc, their court case gets put on hold so long as they get some help and if they "stick with the program" the case is dismissed. Those without any big issues still get the free legal representation. Anyway, the project involves the judges, the VA, VFW, Mental Health Services, Legal Aid, and the Bar Association. It's just a really cool project and I'm awfully excited to be involved - even if all I do is take notes and set up meetings.

Yup. I'm pissy. It happens when I get a migraine.

We signed our youngest up for orchestra at school and even sent a check for viola rental (it says so right on the memo line AND on the receipt they gave in return). Orchestra started Monday - no instrument. Second day was yesterday - no instrument. I sent an email to the teacher about it. She said the school district has been giving her the run around. So, I check with the bank - check was cashed AND cleared. Then I called the school district, was put through to the guy over curriculum, and left a firm but obviously unhappy voice mail. He returned the call this morning. I warned him that I had a migraine. He chose to argue with me and talk down to me anyway. Big mistake. See, this Momma Bear already knows about getting little ducks all lined up - I've already gone head to head with the school district AND with the judicial system so don't you fark with me or my kids. I laid out my little lined up ducks for him ... he didn't have any ducks. In fact, he gave me the one duck he did have so I could use it for my benefit. He hung up on me. Tsk tsk tsk.

He called me back an hour later. He magickly found some instruments at another school and would be personally picking them up and delivering them to our school by this afternoon. Our kids will have instruments to play at their next class.
Don't mess with Momma Bear ... especially when she has a migraine ... unless you don't want to keep your penis attached.

The end.

Political Rant ahead...consider yourself warned.

Here are a few of my thoughts on the State of our Union and why I have decided to vote for Obama next month.

DC is woefully corrupt. The politicians have perverted and warped our government into a quagmire to be truly ashamed of. No bills get passed unless or until enough politicians get their palms greased by corporations and special interests.

They'd rather give my social security to Wall Street than to me.

Health care is not only out of reach financially for many of us, but it's become a stale joke.

We keep paying terrorists for oil when we have plenty of our own.

I could go on and on.....

The whole thing is a stinking shit sandwich and they expect me not only to take a bite but to be grateful to them for preparing it for me.

I like McCain and think he'd do everything in his power to make things better in America, but I doubt he'll be able to affect the kind of change we need. With him as President he'll be in a constant battle with the partisan House and Congress to get even the toilet paper changed in DC. Regardless of his ideas and motives, he'll end up being ineffective at best.

Regardless of his campaign rhetoric, Obama epitomizes the problems in DC. I believe his solutions will only dig us deeper in the hole. He will however have the majority support and admiration of the lowest rated Congress in our history. Thats why I'm voting for him.

Most Americans are blinded to the problems in DC. It's like watching a football game where everyones cheering on their team, even though the players are a gang of overpaid, drugged up, cheating derelicts. They believe that the politicians might finally do the right things by us. They are drunk with hope and addicted to government control and just as an alcoholic needs to hit rock bottom before they can open their eyes and help themselves, we'll need to hit the bottom to finally stand up and force them to do the right things.

McCain will be able to keep us afloat but I believe Obama can help us get to the bottom and I believe he can do it in only one term. Maybe then will we require our representatives to represent us and not them. Perhaps then we'll tell them they have a single term in office and they can go back to their day jobs. Maybe if the lobbyists go bankrupt, the bribes will dry up and being a politician won't be so profitable.

"Change we need"? Bring it on!
