Saw my dr today for the follow up on my blood work for my random numbness. The results were in the normal range so it ruled out a bunch of things. I am getting more blood work done to recheck my calcium levels. My calcium levels were on the low end of normal which does not make sense given I meet/exceed the minimum daily requirements by breakfast. I have also been referred to a behavioral medicine dr to talk about alternative ways to deal with stress. My dr's theory is that it is similiar to migrane causes where the blood vessels and nerves in the brain are acting all funky. I may still be referred to a neurologist for more diagnotic things but my dr wants to be consulted before I agree to anything they suggest before I agree to MRIs, etc. The behavioral medicine guy is the same one my dr uses so I feel really good about that. Good news ---- stroke symtoms does ntot always mean stroke. hee hee Anyway - I'll keep you posted.

We have another open house this Sunday. Oh joy! But hey, what I really want to say is that the first of the "relos" is looking at the house this afternoon. fingers crossed. Some company, I forget who it is, is relocating to Branchburg and is giving bigBIGbig incentives to their employees to move with them. Apparently, incentives like 20% downpayments ;) Man I want a piece of THAT. So... cleaners were just here on Tuesday and the kids are being good about picking up after themselves. I went home at lunch and made sure everything looked good. Actually, I do that a lot since mostly people look at the house after lunchtime.

This is a good reminder for all of us. Here in Sacto there was an abduction & assault at one of our jr. colleges at 8:30 am in the parking lot. Don't let fear stop you from living but don't be stupid about staring fear in the face (it does protect us from time to time.)

Abduction Precautions for Women
We can now add to the list of victims the retired 77 yr. old TCU

professor from Ft Worth whose body was found last week in Oklahoma --and the
11

yr.old in Sarasota , FL. Because of these recent abductions in daylight

hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency

situation...This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your

children, everyone you know.

After reading this, forward it to someone you care about. It never hurts

to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1 . Tip from Tae Kwon Do : The elbow is the strongest point on your

body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans . If a robber asks

for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM . Toss it away from

you....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse

than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER

DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back

tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The

driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating,

working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list,

etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the

perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to
your

head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK

THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking

garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side

floor, and in the back seat.

B..) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the

passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them

into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the

passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car,

you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a

guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than

dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are

horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS

RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times;

And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP . It may get

you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well

educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his

vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a

crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the

police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her

"Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."

The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a

window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get

run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever

you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer

has a baby's cry recorded, and uses it to coax women out of their homes

thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified

it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby

crying outside their doors, when they're home alone at night.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby. This

e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory

was mentioned on America's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they

profiled the serial killer in Louisiana.

If you do become under the control of someone, let your animal instincts
take over, fight,

kick, gouge, scream, claw, growl, scratch, don't give up, you might just
save your own life.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the

world we live in has a lot of crazies in it, and it's better to be safe

than sorry.

I am excited about this site. Basically it's an online music collaboration site where you share tracks with other artists. All the music produced here is created under Creative Commons license which makes it easy for movie producers, Indy radio stations, or podcasters to use legally. We could be looking at the future of the music industry. Look out BMG! Look out Sony! Set the music free! Yea!

As I get older, I often look back at the past and wonder...what if?

Back in 1980 as I sat in the Navy recruiters office going over my ASVAB scores he handed me a booklet. It contained every career field the Navy had to offer. I was surprised when he told me I scored high enough to choose any career in the book. What if I had chosen to become a Physicist or a Journalist or a Research Engineer? Would I be a different person today? How did my choice back then affect the path of my life to this point? I like to think that by spending the past 25 years in healthcare, I have gained a deeper sense of compassion for the sick and dying. Other times, I wonder if it's made me more cynical of the Health Sciences.

In 1982, I was a corpsman on a pediatric unit at Balboa Hospital, working the night shift. I was assigned a new patient to the unit, her name was Megan Fraser. She was 10 months old, and had a crushed skull from being beaten by her father. Every night for 3 months, I took her vitals, measured the fluid from the drains that had been implanted into her head, changed her diapers, and fed her. Often she would fall asleep as I rocked her in one of the rockers in the solarium. I had become quite attached to her, which was obvious enough to our charge nurse that I was counselled on the dangers of becoming personally involved with such a tragic patient. One night I reported for duty as they were preparing her body for transfer to the morgue. This had such a profound effect on me that I abandoned patient care and became an Biomedical Engineer. What if I had remained a nurse? Would I still be one today? How many lives could I have helped save in the past 25 years?

In 1985 My son was taken from this earth. What exactly happened is really only known by Barbie alone. I know what she told me happened. I know what the authorities believe happened. I believe the truth lies somewhere mixed between the two. I don't believe she intended for him to die, but I do believe she was suffocating him, in order to revive him and be the hero. Her lies and actions (mostly involving fake or exxagerated health problems) and my inability to forgive her changed me.

I have carried a burning hatred for her over the past two decades. We all have that place in our minds where dark thoughts are kept locked up. I realized today that some of my darkest thoughts come to the surface on April 21st, each and every year. I hurts me to know that on the past 20 anniversaries of Corey's death, all I can think about is hate and revenge. No more! Today is different. Today, and the todays yet to come, I'll try to remember him as the smiling little boy he was. Today will be one of those times I hope to look back on in the future and realize that I made a choice. A choice that I hope will put me on a better path. A choice that will honor his memory, instead of vilifying his mother.

Ed got his learner's permit yesterday (Yikes I'm gettin old). He drove around the block today and didn't crash or anything. :) Actually, he did pretty good for his first time. We were barely out of the driveway when he had to navigate a bunch of 6 year olds on bikes. That was a little scarey LOL I'm going to call this week and get him into a driving school and he's going to help me with the driving when we go back to Poky. Richard is trading cars with me so I'll have the van, so the kids (and cats) will drive out with me rather than flying ahead. Ed will be going to Seattle from Idaho for the summer. He'll stay with Kirk, who can get him a summer job where he works, possibly continuing as a part-time job while he goes to school. Ed will be staying in dorms once school starts though, not with Kirk. The campus is quite a long way from where Kirk lives and Ed is looking forward to living on campus anyway.

Tami......for your next open house give this a try. I found it at www.tradetricks.org

Real Estate Agent

Some agents will bake cookies or brew coffee in a home an hour before they open it to the public for show. An even better technique is to bring a bread machine full of dough to the house and let it run while people tour the premises. The scent of cooking bread is the most recognizable and emotionally resonant way to create a "this smells like home" atmosphere for potential buyers.

I broke up with Barbara. I'm not ready to share my life with anyone and really need to just face that fact. I feel like a jerk, but better now than after she's sold her house, left her job, and moved to Poky, right? Right.

So.... woman seeking woman for friendship w/benefits. no long term committments or dyke drama please.

Geez, sounds like a guy I dated once.
