I was fairly certain that I would vote Republican again this year but had some serious questions about the candidate. With his choosing Sarah for his V.P., I have been convinced to vote for them. She not only eats moose burgers, has her own guns, and guts her own fish; she's HOT, HOT, HOT. Besides, being born in Idaho and graduating from college in Idaho, she can't be too bad. GO, SARAH, GO.

I've landed my dream job. The City of Kansas City is drawing up a contract for me. My official title will be Administrative Consultant to the Judges. Basically, I get to wear a short skirt and a loooonnnng jacket. (Sam can explain the reference) I'll be doing the normal secretarial stuff for the Municipal judges like keeping their calendars, submitting CLE stuff, renewing their bar things, typing orders, etc. I'll also be taking meetings on their behalf, offering no comment to the press, being the middle-woman in between the judicial and legislative peeps, figuring out where administrative processes are broken and suggesting ways to fix them, and yes - helping to write "training manuals". It's basically an Executive Secretary/Aide type of thing and I'm super excited. The administrative staff calls me ma'am - which is terribly disconcerting. I keep looking around wondering who the heck they're talking to. I noticed the copier was jammed today and started to fix it and sort of got gently pushed aside and basically "put in my place" by a secretary. Reminded me of what I used to do to Attorneys when they'd try to pretend they understood how the office machines work.

My post-op was this morning. Not as great as I'd hoped. The surgery went well and things are healing beautifully. The not-so-good part is that my toe was in worse shape than he originally thought before the surgery. This procedure is more of a time-buyer than an actual solution. I am most likely looking at having the bones fused in a few years. That would mean no pretty shoes, no heels, no dancing. To me, that's a awful as a life without chocolate ... or sex (sorry, unc ... and dad who I know is lurking). It's like ... well ... imagine if the doctor told you that you could never fish again. Yeah. Not a happy thought. Anyway, I'm stubborn. I'm going to let myself be sad tonight, then starting tomorrow I'll work toward making a miracle happen. After all, I am the one with the disappearing 12mm kidney boulder. So there.
Oh, yeah. And here's a lovely photo of what's hiding beneath all these bandages. Brian snapped it with his phone before the doctor wrapped me all up again for the week.

Ray, thank you so much for calling yesterday. It totally made my day. I was having an extraordinarily bitchy day until you called & you completely turned it all around for me. Thank you. Your call really meant a lot to me. *hugs*

We're safe and sound in Kansas City. Ian's already been out looking for a job and next week he'll be starting the online high school. My pets and Tracey's pets are getting along great and life just couldn't be any sweeter. I've got my first rehearsal with the community orchestra tonight. It should be a lot of fun.

I'm getting a hemi!
I check in at the surgical center tomorrow at 9:30am. They will be replacing my right toe knuckle with a titatium hemi. This is an outpatient procedure and if all goes well I should be home tomorrow afternoon. No walking for a week, no showering for 2 weeks, and no driving for 2 months, but the ultimate goal is to wear shoes without crying (and be back in heels within a year). Send me some happy, healy thoughts & prayers.

Tami and Ian left for Kansas City this morning around 7 or so, so keep them in your thoughts for a safe trip. Sure are going to miss them, but it looks like this is going to be a good move for them. She's going to let me know when they stop for the night, and when they get there. Good luck sis, and be safe.
Love ya

For Mack's Inn next summer Does any one have a preference between the end of July or the first part of August?
