I'm at home resting and healing, I hope with the assistance of the world's greatest nurse (mom). Went to the E.R. Saturday with extreme lower back pain. Bulging disk (pinched nerve) that eventually affected my right thigh (couldn't make my leg respond at all). kept me in the hospital through Tuesday while they Hmmm'ed ad Haww'ed about surgery but decided on steroids and P.T. for now instead. Got lots of problems in the spine but with care and losing some weight, should do alright. Can't lift the little ones anymore. Will be on P.T. for some time to regain full use of my leg. Right now I have to use a walker (like old people). Trying to manage pain with tylenol but might have to chicken out and ask for some real stuff.
Dad (aka - coffee bean).

Ouch! Yikes! Skip the tylenol and go straight to the good stuff. Your body will heal faster in a relaxed state than it will in a state of crisis (extreme pain). Just don't take a percocet then watch "How to" shows ... not that I speak from recent experience or anything.

Wow grandpa, I hope you aren't hurting too bad. I agree....skip the tylenol and get some rest. And as for the walker....it can always get spray painted black with some handpainted flames or something....think Dr. House.

Love ya!!!
*smooch*

LOL! Amber, you funny. My daughter wants to trick my surgical shoe out with some rhinestones and glitter for the holidays. You kids these days. Sheesh! (But I do like the idea of flames on a walker.)

Hmmmmm.. Remembering a pair of crutches Grampa had. BRIGHT fire engine red with lights turn signals, siren, PA, and a horn. I agree with the others, go for the good stuff to manage pain, rest, and do everything the therapist tells you to. Work hard at the exercises, but don't over do them either. Low back problems are nothing to take for granted. Been there. I'll keep you in my prayers for a quick recovery.

Love ya Dad
Hugs to Mom too

No blood or broken bones is good. I won't tell you to get back outside and play though. Get better soon Pops.

I think you just wanted to get out of putting up Christmas lights. Wish I would have thought of that. Any way I'm with LE, go straight for the good stuff. Get well soon and don't over do it.
Love you

The good stuff for sure dad. It will help you to recuperate and make the PT more tolerable.

Get well
