Grrrr. The Navy basically considers Ian a high school drop out because he got his diploma from an accelerated online high school I TOLD them that it is a nationally accredited school. How the hell can they pick and choose which accredited high school diploma they will accept??? He can still enlist if 1) he waits until June 2010 when he would have graduated in public school or 2) take 15 college courses.

How about the reserves? Hope he can make it. Sea Bees would be great for him. Learn a real trade.....and take training next door to gramps.
Ask the recruiter for his district superior - these "requirements" are only "guidelines".

If he does well enough on the ASVAB, I'd bet they'd be a lot more accepting.

Otherwise, check out the Reserves. He could switch to active duty about the time his training is complete.

Go see a different recruiter (preferably a "main" station - don't mention "on line" school - just present his diploma. Let them figure it out if they can. NEVER offer more than they ask. Hell, they let me in without a speen - thought the scar was for appendix and I never told them anything differently.
