OK.....here's what's going on. JT (Cathy's son) was driving from El Paso to Richmond VA to pick up his daughter from her moms. According to witnesses, he fell asleep at the wheel just outside of Abilene TX, went off the road and lost control. The officer said he went quickly and died in the crash.
Right now, we're trying to figure out how to get Cathy to Abilene. Ticket's right at $700 and payday's friday, so she'll probably fly out then. We still need to get ahold of the funeral home where his body is and make arrangements to get him cremated so she can pick up his ashes when she gets there.
Cathy's really torn up, and I'm trying to stay strong, so (for now) we're doing OK.
The calls and prayers are greatly appreciated.

From the Abilene review newspaper

Man dies in one-vehicle crash

One man was killed in a one-vehicle accident about 8 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 20 near Loop 322, Abilene police said.

According to police, the 27-year-old driver was driving east on I-20 when his car started drifting to the right.

The driver swerved back into place but lost control of the car, causing it to roll over several times before coming to a stop. Police said the driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Justice of the Peace Ronnie Doan pronounced the driver dead about 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police were not releasing the man's name and hometown until his family could be notified.
