We made it through another election. I'm thankful this one went the way it did, not too many screwups this time around. The one thing that did stand out was the partisonship of the news networks. They showed their colors in a way that they can't pretend anymore, CNN being the most blatant. I just hope Kerry can take it with dignity so we can get on with the business at hand.

You thought CNN was worse than Fox? I get most of my news from npr anyway, NBC for morning shows. I'm glad its over and I'm happy to see that the popular and electoral voting was in sync. I'm not gonna say I'm happy with the outcome. I think it shows that Kerry cares about the unity of the country for him to concede and not wait for Ohio. I'm incredibly disappointed to see so many states vote to ban gay marriage and/or civil unions.
The gay marriage ban ammendment makes me ill. It passed here by a good 2/3 vote. I just don't understand that kind of fear & hatred. It is so simple to me - if you don't believe in gay marriage, don't enter into one.
Politics in America...my rant.
As the last 4 or 5 elections have shown, far left liberals won't be elected. Clinton may have had his moral issues, but he was essentially a moderate. Bush Jr is out there on the right, while Kerry and Gore are out there on the left. Given a choice between the far right and left extremes, the majority of us will vote conservative. Until the Democratic party can nominate another moderate, they don't stand a chance in a national election.
The same holds true for the issues, such as gay marriage. After the liberal frenzy in the courthouses around the country when they were issuing gay and lesbian marriage lisences, the public felt a need to counter with laws prohibiting them. I believe that if the gay and lesbian groups had put their efforts towards lobbying for civil unions, the gay marriage bans would not have passed. Instead they went for ultra liberal grandstanding.
In the next election, I believe, we will have a choice between Hillary or Edwards and McCain. McCain is a moderate, while again, Hillary and Edwards are out there on the left wings of their party. Someone like Leiberman would fare much better in this matchup.
Bottom line is that 90% of the voters will support their party candidate, splitting the popular vote. It's the remaining 10% that vote down the middle that elect the President.
I'd like to see that Obama guy give it a shot. Hillary can't win, although I'd vote for her. Think America is ready to vote for someone other than a rich white guy? I'm betting Colin is a man most of the country would get behind, but he won't run.
I see a Constitutional ammendment in the next 3 (Republican controlled congress) years which will allow "The Governator" to become or next president (or at least, that would be the ideal scenario). Hillary and Obama? First almost female and almost black on the ticket? Don't think so. Just my humble opinion.
I don't believe Hillary is electable. I do believe that we will eventually have a female president.
I totally agree that Hill isn't electable. Also agree that an amendment allowing foreign born citizens to be president.
Cathy found this and I thought....hmmm...maybe the lighter side. Check it out
